⚠️ Requires 5V DC power supply. A 5V power supply rated at minimum 6A (30W) is recommended for full-brightness white on all 300 LEDs. Do NOT connect to 12V β€” this will instantly destroy the strip. A controller (D1 Mini, NodeMCU, ESP32, etc.) is required β€” the strip does not work standalone.

⚑ Key Features

  • IP68 Waterproof β€” Fully Submersible β€” silicone tube encapsulation protects LEDs from rain, sprinklers, splashes, and even underwater installations (pools, ponds, fountains)
  • WS2812B Individually Addressable β€” each of the 300 LEDs can display a unique colour; create animations, colour chasing, fire effects, rainbows, and custom patterns
  • 60 LEDs per Metre / 300 LEDs Total β€” high density for smooth colour transitions and rich lighting effects over the full 5-metre roll
  • DC 5V Low Voltage β€” safe to touch and handle; no mains wiring required
  • Single Data Wire β€” only 3 connections needed: 5V, GND, and Data In (DIN)
  • Cuttable Every LED β€” trim to exact length at the marked cut points (every ~16.7mm)
  • WLED / ESPHome / Home Assistant β€” flash WLED onto a D1 Mini or NodeMCU for instant smartphone control with hundreds of built-in effects, or use ESPHome for full Home Assistant integration
  • Arduino / ESP32 / Raspberry Pi β€” use FastLED or NeoPixel libraries for custom code
  • Black PCB β€” blends into dark mounting surfaces for a cleaner look outdoors
  • 3M Adhesive Backing β€” peel-and-stick installation (use additional mounting clips for outdoor longevity)

🏠 Perfect For

🏊

Pool & Pond Lighting

IP68 means fully submersible. Add colour-changing lighting to pools, koi ponds, water features, and fountains. Seal the connections with waterproof connectors or marine-grade silicone.

🌧️

Outdoor Accent Lighting

Line braai areas, patios, pergolas, garden paths, and boundary walls. IP68 handles South African thunderstorms, sprinkler overspray, and humidity without issue.

πŸŽ„

Holiday & Event Lighting

WLED includes Christmas, Halloween, and party effects out of the box. Set schedules via Home Assistant β€” lights turn on at sunset and off at midnight automatically.

πŸš—

Vehicle & Carport Underglow

Waterproof rating makes it suitable for carport and vehicle accent lighting. Power from a 5V USB supply or regulated 5V from a 12V car battery (via DC-DC converter).

πŸ’‘ WLED is the easiest way to control this strip. Flash WLED onto a D1 Mini or NodeMCU β€” you’ll get a phone app with 200+ effects, sync to music, preset schedules, and full Home Assistant integration. Total setup time: about 5 minutes.

πŸ’§ IP68 vs IP20 β€” Which Do You Need?

IP68 (this product) β€” fully encased in silicone tube; handles rain, submersion, and constant outdoor exposure. Slightly less bright than IP20 due to the silicone diffusion, but the trade-off is complete weather protection.

IP20 (indoor version) β€” no waterproof coating; maximum brightness and flexibility. Perfect for bedrooms, TV backlights, desks, and shelving. Not suitable for any moisture exposure.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this in a swimming pool?
Yes β€” IP68 means fully submersible. However, you must properly seal the power and data connections with waterproof connectors or marine-grade silicone. The strip itself is sealed, but the cut/connection points are not. For permanent underwater use, consider a proper housing channel.
What power supply do I need?
A 5V DC power supply. At full white brightness, the strip draws ~18W per metre (~90W total). A 5V 10A (50W) supply gives comfortable headroom for most animations (which rarely hit 100% white on all LEDs). For 2–3 metres, a 5V 4A supply is sufficient. Never use 12V β€” it will destroy the LEDs instantly.
What’s the difference between this and the IP20 version?
Same WS2812B LEDs, same 60/m density, same data protocol. The IP68 version is encased in a waterproof silicone tube for outdoor/underwater use. The IP20 version has no coating β€” it’s thinner, slightly brighter, and more flexible, but strictly indoor only.
Do I need a separate controller?
Yes. The strip needs a microcontroller to send data. The easiest option is a D1 Mini or NodeMCU flashed with WLED β€” this gives you a phone app, 200+ effects, and Home Assistant integration. Connect: 5V β†’ strip 5V, GND β†’ strip GND, GPIO2 β†’ DIN (via 330Ξ© resistor).
Can I extend beyond 5 metres?
You can connect multiple strips in series (data out β†’ data in) but you must inject power every 2–3 metres to avoid voltage drop, which causes the far end to appear dim or show incorrect colours. Run separate 5V/GND wires from the PSU to the mid-point and end of longer runs.
